Our story

Couples Therapy started on a night out with two other couples. We wanted to play a game together, but couldn’t find anything that was actually fun for multiple couples to enjoy at the same time. Most of the options were generic party games that didn’t really bring couples into the experience or give everyone a reason to stay engaged. So we resorted to asking questions and seeing if the other person could guess their partner’s answer.

It turned into one of those nights where everyone was laughing, getting to know each other better, and realizing how much they didn’t know about the people sitting right next to them. By the end of the night, everyone felt a little closer and we couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Over the next few years, we kept working on the questions and figuring out how to turn that night into a real game. Then Kara spent a week in the hospital after her appendix burst, and she decided it was time to finally make it happen. She spent those days coming up with questions and planning how to bring the game to life.

A few years and a lot of versions later, beautiful artwork and the finest craftsmanship the game is finally here. And we can’t wait for you to play it with your best friends!

Why we made the game

Some of our favorite nights are spent with other couples, people we love and have known for years. Even so, the conversation tends to stay in the same comfortable places. We catch up on work, trips, and plans. We laugh a lot, but somehow we rarely get to the deeper conversations, the kind that leave you feeling truly connected. We made Couples Therapy for exactly that. It gives you the questions you'd never think to ask, and a good excuse to ask them.

Play it with a table full of friends, or keep it to just the two of you on a quiet night in. Either way, it opens the conversations you haven't had yet. You'll learn something new about yourself, your partner, and your friends, and you'll leave feeling more connected to the people you love. Our hope is simple.
